  16.  Subject:       Elimination of possible faint pulse noise from
  17.                 speaker when radio is in power save mode
  18.  
  19.  Information:   The power save mode employs a circuit which
  20.                 creates a high level square wave signal used in
  21.                 the power save function.  This modification alters
  22.                 the square wave characteristic to eliminate the
  23.                 noise.

  25.  Procedure

  27.   1.  Remove the covers from the radio and locate the main board.
  28.  
  29.   2.  Locate C-749 and replace it with a 2.2 uf 16 V tantalum chip
  30.       capacitor.
  31.  
  32.   3.  Reassemble the radio, power up and allow the unit to enter
  33.       the power save mode.
  34.  
  35.   4.  Check to see that the pulse type noise has been eliminated.

  37.   5.  Replace the covers and return the radio to service.

  48.   1.  Disassemble the radio so the logic board is able to be
  49.       worked on.

  51.   2.  Cut a lead on D912 or remove it from the board.

  53.   3.  Reassemble the radio.

  55.  Operation
  56.  
  57.       To enable cross band repeat hold the function switch
  58.       depressed and then depress the C, 6, and D keys in that or-
  59.       der.  Release the function button.
  60.  
  61.       To disable the cross band repeat function hold the function
  62.       button depressed and then depress the D and C keys.  Release
  63.       the function button.
